Wouldn't you love to sit amongst the Roses??

During one of our Visits to Amsterdam... I ran across these chairs at one of the Rose Breeders...

I think it's fitting that Rose Breeder would have roses
on their dining chairs...

P.S. After all... Wouldn't you love to sit amongst the Roses??

Flower POWER!!

I'm getting such great feedback from the Recipes in my Blog
(Subscribe below)...

So I thought I would sharing this amazing Pork Roast recipe that is enhances with Flowers and Herbs...

Take a Pork Roast- I get mine from a local farmer... Crane Dance Farms!

Place in glass dish... coated with Coconut Oil... I use Fresh pressed...  Fat Side UP!

I sprinkle with Organic Lavender Blossoms and salt and pepper...

Place Sage Leaves (I grow these organically in my garden)... across the top of the pork roast... place about 3 tablespoons of fresh pressed Coconut oil on top of sage leaves..

Arrange springs of Fresh Organic Rosemary on top of the coconut oil...

Place in a 375 oven for about 1 hour... use a meat thermometer and remove when internal temp reaches 145-165... You decide how well done you want your pork!

Remove from oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes... slice and serve!

Not only does it taste delicious... it's aromatic and your house will smell amazing as it cooks..

P.S. I love a flower/herb infused recipe... don't you? Flower POWER!!

Dahlia season here in West Michigan.

It's been an amazing Dahlia season here in West Michigan... with the delay of frost...

So I thought I would show you a fast easy way to make a dahlia arrangement... (you can use other flowers from the garden too)...

Fill your bowl with COLD Water... I prefer water that's actually been in the refrigerator... (or you can add ice)... add Chrysal CVBn Tablets... (I used 3 for this vase as it holds 3 liters of water)... read and measure!

Add stems of greenery... I cut mine in the garden- Lemon Ball, 9 Bark, Scented Geranium... crossing the stems across the wide mouth of the bubble bowl vase..

Next cut and place your 3 largest blossoms in a triangle shape... with the stems crossing... the stems should just touch the bottom of the vase... too long and they may "JUMP OUT"...

Next place 3 more larger blossoms between the other three... again setting the blooms on the edge of the vase...

You can also add other flowers- I included a Ornamental Kale and Hydrangea in this step as well...

Then add in more flowers-... I used different sizes of dahlias to fill in the middle of the arrangement and a few other garden flowers...

Fill in flowers until you are satisfied... remember to enjoy the arranging the process... you're releasing endorphins that cause relaxation and stress to melt away!!!

Place your arrangement where everyone can admire it... or where you see it often... it also might be a great gift!!

P.S. That was easy... and now you'll be arranging like a PRO! Enjoy

"self cleaning" flowers-

Dianthus Barbatus- is a cousin of the flower featured this week on uBloom... (preview this week's show)

Native to Europe and parts of Asia...

Dianthus Barbatus- is a cousin to the carnation Native to Europe and parts of Asia...it's popular as an ornamental garden plant... but this variety is grown as a cut flower!

It appears in botanist John Gerard's Garden Catalogue in 1596...
When grown organically the flowers are edible and are thought to have medicinal properties...

Dense clusters of flowers appear at the top of the stem...

The "Sweet" Varieties from Ball- pictured here... are hybrids that have been 8 years in the making... possessing long stems, "self cleaning" flowers- (meaning old flowers are absorbed... so they remain looking beautiful... )and a wide variety of colors... Including Bi-colors...

it's even more exciting as I look to see how Long it will last...

Allow me to introduce "Charmelia"... a NEW discovery from Gardens America...

They sent me a sample to observe... and this is the Flower over 2 weeks since it arrived... I placed it in Chrysal Professional 3... and have replenished water about 4 times...

I took some photos about 3-4 days after it arrived... but this flower just keeps getting better... notice there is only 1 spot on one of the leaves and they continue to be a robust green...

While the flowers started out white... they have turned this amazing light pink blush... which I love...

You'll notice the same vase is in both pictures... at first the tiny blossom have a green/pink hue... the open blossoms are a more intense pink... but this variety is LIGHT PINK... thus the progression that is making it so very special!

I love it... and Now... it's even more exciting as I look to see how Long it will last... it's an incredible performer! WOW!

P.S. Check out "Charmelia" from Gardens America... you'll be thankful - I promise!!!

Silver grey appearance...

While technically NOT a flower... or at least a cut flower... (although this velvety silver leafed plant does indeed flower)... it has gained international
popularity for it's silver grey appearance...

With many varieties that include Cirrus, Cloud, Lace, Quick Sliver and Silver lace... (many pictured here)...

The Botanical name for this foliage plant is:
Cineraria maritima...

The common name is also shared by The Mayor of Thunder Bay Ontario, a British POW from WWII that was crucified for his faith, and two American baseball players - both outfielders... one for the Cincinnati Reds- the other for Chicago Cubs...

Also known as Silver Dusty- this cool, silvery foliage - is best known for it's wooly-felt like leaves that provide excellent contrast in both color and texture... whether it be in a flower arrangement or flower bed...

bigger was definitely better..

For this bride... bigger was definitely better... from the Southern Weddings Best of Bouquets 2014...

I pinned this- and kept it for reference... the bride wanted her bouquet to appear as if she wandered through the forest and picked flowers (and couldn't stop...)...

It's got several banksia protea... and lots of fresh jasmine...blushing bride, dendrobium orchids, date palm... WOW...

I love the trend toward larger bouquets... after all Flowers should make a statement... that everyone remembers forever...

P.S. Do you think Bigger is Better???

Placed a flower frog in the bottom.

Sunflowers are BIG... Both as a trend and also as a flower...

So what to do with that Single Bloom that you just cut in the garden...

Here's a simple idea... I used a large cylinder vase... and placed a flower frog in the bottom... placed my single sunflower stem... into the flower frog..

Cut it short so it's INSIDE The Cylinder... and then covered the flower frog with decorative stones... (also adds stability so the flower won't topple)...

Accented with a coordinating ribbon... and viola...

A Stunning centerpiece... (drop a CVBn Tablet into the water to keep it clear... Sunflowers have "dirty stems"...

P.S. Simply put- ONE Flower can adorn a table- Stunning!

Like this "Flower Thought"... Share it now!

I love a submerged flower centerpiece..

I love a submerged flower centerpiece... obviously do
about half a million other people...  who viewed this video... hehehe!

But I love Kelly's take on my submerged arrangement... using flower frogs and pin cushion protea and anthurium...
I created this submerged cylinder arrangement...

And then...
Kelly drooped his Aquaman figure- (complete with STORM - his giant domesticated Seahorse from Atlantis)... into the arrangement...

Adding a Super Hero element to the arrangement!

P.S. So does this qualify as Cosplay or just Cos-arranging? We may have something here... ???
