Gorgeous spring flower

Seen at SF Brannan Street in the Historic San Francisco Flower Market...

This amazing flower has a checkerboard type pattern on it's petals...

and it's name comes from the Latin word for "dice-box"... referring to that pattern...

Part of the Lily family and native to North America... and may also
be called "mission bells"...

P.S. We call this gorgeous spring flower- Frittilaria or Frittilaries (plural)
