Diphylleia grayi is a little-known relative of the more popular Mayapple (Podophyllum) and Fairy Wing (epimedium).

Diphylleia grayi is native to the moist wooded mountainsides in colder regions of China and Japan.

The Petals actually become transparent when wet...

Otherwise small clusters of White Apple Blossom type flowers are arranged in clusters atop large fuzzy green leaves.

Flowers appear in late spring. In late summer, the stalks of vibrant cobalt blue fruit replace the flowers.

P.S. The common name is "Skeleton Flower"... I'd like to think it's "Elsa's Favorite Flower"... from Frozen!
