It's Lilac Season... when preparing your lilacs for the vase... there's a few rules to follow to insure Success...
1. Leave the Leaves... Lilacs need them to help bring water up the stem...
2. Cut the stems early in the morning... before the heat of the day to prevent dehydration...
3. Use a quality Flower Food in the water... I prefer Chrysal Universal Flower Food... follow the directions...
4. Use ICE COLD Water for your best results... Ice cold water reduces bacteria production... Enemy #1 of fresh cut flowers...
5. NEVER hammer or crush the stems... this doesn't help... it destroys the vascular system in the stem and rapidly creates bacteria production...
P.S. Follow these steps and you'll be enjoying (and smelling that fragrance) for days...
