I taught this class at the Dallas Market Center... and we
used Fabulous Foliage- Aspidistra (Cast Iron Plant) leaves
from FernTrust...

One bunch of 10 leaves... and bind wire is all you need...

The rose will last for weeks... and it will dry...
After you've enjoyed it in a vase... hang it upside in
a dark cool spot (Basement or Closet)...

and after about 6-8 weeks... you have a dried rose
keepsake... (like the one on top in the photo)

This lovely flower is called

From my garden... this common spike flower is native to the Northern Hemisphere
and also the high mountains of tropical Africa.

The name is derived from the Latin for "dolphin"... regarding the shape
of the blossom itself...

The liquid of this flower was mixed with alum to produce Blue Ink...

It is most common in Blue (both dark and light) and purple... but also comes in white, pink, and least common - red and yellow...

While somewhat toxic to humans and livestock... it is popular with pollenators like bees and butterflies... and serves as food for the larvae of the Dot Moth and Small angle shades...

P.S.This lovely flower is called the Delphinium...

National Splurge Day is observed annually on June 18th. This day is a fun, feel-good holiday that was created for you to do something special for yourself.

Splurge, (as defined at Dictionary.com) is: to indulge oneself in some luxury or pleasure.

Take the time to pull away from the everyday busyness and stress of life to treat yourself. Perhaps that splurge is extra whipped cream on your latte, an afternoon at the spa, or booking the vacation you have been dreaming about taking. Savor the indulgence. If you splurge on a day off to play golf, enjoy each moment of the 18 holes regardless of the score. Maybe the splurge is for a bottle of expensive wine. Select a good friend who will enjoy the vino, too.

Whatever it is, this is the day for it. National Splurge Day is about celebrating you and doing something you may not usually take the time or money to do.

Do you do it????

Arrange-plant... It's a new term I made up for my garden...

you see... when it comes to my home garden... I plant
only things I can arrange... since I love to arrange flowers...
it makes sense for me to plant things that I can cut when
they bloom and make into arrangements...

It's fun when things start to bloom... because I think about
the cool arrangements I can make with them...

Sometimes it's just a single flower arrangement...
(like these I made with Kim Carson... watch the video)

and they are seasonal... so I strike when the flowers are
"hot"... (meaning in bloom and BEAUTIFUL)...

Plus it creates reasons for me to share flowers... and to
get creative...
