                          Happy Thanksgiving

The Traditional Thanksgiving Centerpiece is often the Cornucopia... in Greek Mythology... it was represented by the Magnificent Horn of the Nymph Amalthea (or her goat... )

This magical horn... filled itself with whatever meat, drink or desire... the owner requested... (Awesome!!!)

As a kid... I couldn't say "Cornucopia"... so my Grandpa taught me to say "horn of plenty"...

It has long since become the symbol of Plenty...

P.S. My Magical Horn would be filled with Flowers? How about yours???

My Thanksgiving Centerpiece is Just As Important as the Turkey...

but it doesn't have to be Yellow, Orange and Bronze...

I prefer Fragrant Flowers... because I love them... Stemmed Gardenia, Stock, Rose Lilies... and of course FREESIA...

and I create them in a footed goblet... (100% post-consumer recycled glass BTW)... so they're up off the table...

that leaves more room for Stuffing, Beets and Mashed potatoes...

#1 Veteran’s Day – November 11

It’s time to honor the men and women who have served in any branch of the armed forces to keep this country safe. And what better way to show them the love and appreciation they deserve than a gorgeous arrangement? When you visit your local florist you’ll find patriotic arrangements, patriotic colors and the freedom to ask for any combination you might desire. Those who served deserve appreciation and appreciation means flowers.

Charismatic Crimson#2 Remembrance Day (Canada) – November 11

For our friends to the north, this is the day you remember all those who have fallen in the country’s armed conflict. And it’s not just for those who served in the armed forces. Remembrance Day is for civilian casualties as well. Come by and pick up a poppy to wear on your clothes, find a wreath to lay on your local memorial or get some poppies to lay on the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Contemporary Autumn#3 Forget-Me-Not Day - November 10th

A day to reach out to friends and family that you may not have seen in some time. Have an aunt that lives across the country or a good friend across the state? . And remember, nothing says “I miss you,” like a beautiful and creatively designed arrangement from that flower shop on the corner.

Cornucopia Centerpiece#4 Thanksgiving Day – November 27th

Flower of the Week

BANKSIA

There are 173 Banksia species, and all but one only occur naturally in Australia. Banksias were named after Sir Joseph Banks (1743-1820 ), who in 1770, was the first European to collect specimens of these plants. These popular Australian wildflowers are easily recognized by their characteristic flower spikes and fruity coneheads. They are generally found in a wide variety of Australian landscapes and are known to be a real survivor in the Australian outback. Nowadays we just love the exotic Banksia, it always puts flowers and bouquets in a beautiful perspective!
